Staff Workshops:

Teachers will learn objective methods of identifying the two different types of kids who target, and the two different types of kids who are targeted using the Anonymous Student Reporting System and the Anonymous Peer Rating Tool. They will then be trained in how to use this information to re-map their classrooms to drastically reduce bullying opportunities. Teachers will also learn what parenting styles tend to produce each type of bully and vicitm behavior. In addition to this, teachers will be trained in specific techniques that will foster connections between targeted kids in their classrooms with healthy, non-bullying peers. They will also be trained step-by-step how to help parents of both kids who target, as well as those being targeted, assist their children in resolving the bullying problem rather than making it worse. Social bullying and student clusters will also be discussed with specific methods of bringing kids on the fringes into the social groups. Staff trainings are ideally 120 minutes long, but can be shortened if school schedules require.

Parent Workshops:

Parents will learn what dynamics create bully and victim behaviors. They will also be taught how to help their children not become and/or remain a member of the victimized group. Focus will be on practical things parents can do at home to support their children. The techniques include specific role-playing and body language training exercises for kids being targeted. Exactly what to do if your child is being physically bullied will also be covered in detail. Parent workshops are 90 minutes long.

Student Assemblies

Almost all children who target others are also victims of bullying somewhere else in their lives. The techniques taught in the student assemblies are important for both those who target, and those targeted to practice and master. Students will learn to identify the things kids who target look for in their victims. They will then learn step-by-step specifically how to alter their body language and reactions to eliminate future bullying. They will also learn specifically what to do if they are being physically bullied. Additionally, students will be taught the importance of body language combined with verbal restraint in order to disrupt the bully-victim cycle. Assemblies are 70 minutes long (Not including in and out time).

Social Bullying and Connecting With Peers Follow-up Trainings:

This follow-up training is for students 3rd grade and older. Students will learn group dynamics that bully’s use to manipulate peers. They will also learn how to include victimized kids without being victimized themselves. In addition they will also learn how to intervene when they witness bullying, without putting themselves at risk of becoming the next target. This is an additional training that really addresses the root of the bullying problem. The Follow-up Trainings are usually scheduled following the initial Bully-Proofing Youth assemblies.

Students will also learn step-by-step how to connect with peers. This method is extremely effective for shy victimized students, but also helps students who bully because it shows them how to relate to others in a healthy way. These assemblies are 60 minutes long (Not including in and out time).
